The New Concord Reservoir Bridge underwent renovations in the past few months.

The original plan was to wait until the spring months once the ground was dry, but good winter weather conditions allowed for the project to begin early.

The project was taken on by Boy Scouts of America Troop 510.

According to New Concord Village Administrator, Charlotte Colley, the renovation is progressing.

“Boy Scout Troop 510 has done a lot of work on it,” said Colley. “I don’t know that it’s 100 percent done but they have done a lot of work.”

According to Colley, most of the work centered on the base of the bridge and installing its new posts.

“They were able to get in there and tear down a lot of the old bridge and set new posts and do some things so it is under way,” said Colley.

Colley said they were able to get lumber donated from a community member and other community members donated money that helped “offset some of the costs that they were going to incur.”

Colley said this bridge renovation was “done just by volunteer hours and labor.”
