Muskie Student Employees can now receive their paychecks on a Muskie Pay Card, through direct deposit, or a paper check.

Muskingum University Accountant and Treasury Manager, Jessica Canfield, said the switch was inevitable.

“Because of regulation changes between PNC Bank and the Department of Education, we had to make the switch,” said Canfield, adding the new Muskie Pay Card was made with student safety and convenience in mind.

Students can still choose to have their paychecks deposited directly into their account if they prefer that option.

f student employees do not choose the direct deposit method or the Muskie Pay card by default they will be mailed a check to their university address.

If student employees do not choose the direct deposit method or the Muskie Pay card by default they will be mailed a check to their university address.

“If you have a bank account that you’re used to, then I suggest the ACH [Automated Clearing House direct deposit] method,” said Canfield, adding students unfamiliar with direct deposit should use the Muskie Pay Card.

Canfield said that there has been very little reaction from the student body due to the fact that many students are not back on campus as of yet and have not experienced the change.
