Muskie womens soccer started scoring early and often against Pikeville Sept. 15, downing the Bears 3-1 at McConagha Stadium.
First-year Autumn DeVine handled all of the scoring for the Muskies, registering her first career hat trick. All three goals came in the first half, with the first coming just 14 seconds into the match. DeVine made quick work in the first half, scoring again in the 15th and 17th minutes.
DeVine’s hat trick was the first for the program since the 2007 season.
The Muskie defense held fast in front of senior keeper, Liz Mitchell, as Mitchell only had to make seven saves in her 72 minutes played before being replaced by backup Heather Maxwell in the second half.
The win brings the Muskies to 2-4 on the young season with a three-game road trip coming up next to round out non-conference play.
The Muskies next take on Pitt.-Greensburg on Saturday.
