The Muskingum Programming Board (MPB) will be hosting a Muskie Auction, September 30 at 9 p.m. in the Walter K. Chess Center Social Hall.
MPB President, Adam Brown, said the event was created for students to win prizes in a fun competition.
“Muskie Auction is a chance for students to get to win prizes and participate in something we think is a fun and enjoyable event,” said Brown.
MPB Treasurer, Kayla Varansky, says similar, smaller events were successful in the spring, prompting them to host it again this semester.
“It went really well,” said Varansky. “We brought it back this semester for the first-years and everybody else to get stuff at the beginning of the semester rather than at the end.”
Brown said many factors go into preparing for the Muskie Auction.
“It takes a lot,” said Brown. “We have to buy prizes, we have to print the fake money, and we have to make sure we advertise very well.”
Varansky said items up for bid include a TV, Keurig coffee maker, FitBit Blaze watch, and Muskingum Muskies merchandise.
Varansky said bundles can also be won at the event, featuring multiple items such as food, art, and bedroom supplies.
Students who participate in the auction use MPB Bucks rather than real money to bid on the prizes.
Students can earn an advantage by following clues towards earning more MPB Bucks. The clues will be given out via MPB’s Twitter account @MU_ProgramBoard.
