A Muskie comeback bid fell just short as the womens basketball team fell to OAC rival Marietta 62-53 in The Recreation Center Dec. 2.
The Muskies opened up the contest by battling to a 13-13 draw at the end of the first quarter, but the Pioneers followed up with a 26-11 second quarter to take a 15 point lead into the halftime break 39-24.
The Muskies tried to battle back in the second half, outscoring the Pioneers 21-15 in the final quarter, but the comeback effort fell short at the end.
The Muskies were paced offensively by the duo of Mallory Taylor and Jasmine Goings, who each scored 13 points on the night. They both also added six rebounds a piece while staying in foul trouble the majority of the game.
With the loss the Muskies fall to 1-3 on the season, while Marietta remains unblemished at a perfect 7-0.
The Muskies will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they travel to Tiffin for a date with OAC foe Heidelberg.
