Muskingum names new head baseball coach

The Muskingum University Athletic Department has named Jake Krupar as Muskingum Baseball Head Coach.

Krupar comes to Muskingum after one season as an assistant coach for the Butler University baseball program. Krupar coached outfielders, was the baserunning coordinator, and assistant hitting coach. Krupar was responsible for game day management, recruiting, community service efforts, and fundraising.“After completing an extremely competitive national search, it brings me great joy to see Jake come back to Muskingum to lead our program,” said Muskingum Director of Athletics Kari Winters. “I am looking forward to him building relationships with the current men of Muskie baseball as he also begins recruiting for the future.”Krupar was the director of player development at Wofford College before working at Butler. He helped lead the team to its first-ever regular season Southern Conference Championship. “First and foremost, I want to thank President [Susan S.] Hasseler and Director of Athletics Kari Winters for the opportunity to come back to Muskingum and to lead this program,” said Krupar. “I am excited to build and lead the Muskie baseball program to new heights by guiding our student-athletes to be the best possible versions of themselves that they can be on a daily basis. I look forward to building relationships with current and future players, administrators, and alumni.”Krupar spent two seasons on the Muskingum baseball staff as an assistant coach prior to Wofford.  He coached hitters and outfielders and served as the recruiting coordinator. Krupar was Muskingum’s head junior varsity coach and strength and conditioning coordinator.Before coaching, Krupar was a four-year letterwinner for the University of Toledo baseball program. He helped lead the Rockets to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament for three straight years and earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2017 and the Scholar Baller Award from 2014-2017.A native of East Sparta, Krupar graduated from Toledo in 2017 with a bachelor of science in criminal justice and completed his master’s degree in education at Muskingum in 2020.

Muskingum names new men’s basketball coach

The Muskingum University Athletic Department has hired Nathan Wahle as the new Muskingum Men’s Basketball Head Coach.Wahle comes to New Concord after serving one year as the assistant coach for DePauw University. Wahle helped lead the Tigers to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament Final Four last season. Wahle worked with recruiting efforts, opponent scouting, and individual player development.

“Nathan provides a strong vision and high level of excitement for the future of our men’s basketball program,” said Muskingum Director of Athletics Kari Winters. Before DePauw, Wahle served four years as the assistant coach of the Wittenberg University Men’s Basketball program before moving to associate head coach in his fifth year. The Tigers won two NCAC regular-season championships, two NCAC Tournament championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

“I am honored to accept the head men’s basketball position at Muskingum University,” said Wahle. “I want to thank Director of Athletics Kari Winters and President Dr. Sue Hasseler for entrusting me with the men’s basketball program and its future. I can’t wait to start building relationships across campus and especially with our student-athletes and alumni.”

Before his time at Wittenberg, Wahle spent two seasons in Nebraska as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Doane University. He served as the recruiting coordinator, the guard development coach, and the team’s defensive coach.Prior to Doane, Wahle was the varsity assistant boys basketball coach at Maumee High School. He held this position while attending Bowling Green State University and serving as team manager for the BGSU Men’s Basketball program.Wahle graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management.
