New Concord Village Administrator Charlotte Colley, along with the Finance and Infrastructure committees, proposed a number of sidewalk and street improvements within the village during the July 9 Village Council meeting.

Council members plan to examine the sidewalks of New Concord to pinpoint areas where improvements are most needed.

During the meeting, Erin Stevic of the Finance Committee assured village citizens would be notified in advance when and where the improvements will be made.

A July 24 community email from New Concord Administrative Assistant/Utility Billing Clerk Joy Johnson, stated the New Concord Street Improvement Project “will tentatively begin between July 30-Aug. 2. A firm start date will be sent at a later date.”

In Johnson’s email, the list of roads to be paved during the improvement project include:

  • Lakeside Drive, south of the new sidewalk project
  • Maple Avenue from Liberty Road to Chestnut Street
  • Finley Alley from Main Street to Maple Avenue
  • Orr Alley from South Street to Liberty Road
  • Stormont Street from High Street to Main Street
  • Plum Alley from Layton Drive to Depot Street
  • Large patch at intersection of Lincoln and Thompson streets.

Colley said during the July council meeting she is hoping improvements will be completed by the end of the summer.

The next council meeting is Monday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m.

New Concord Village Council meetings air every day at 7 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. on Orbit Television and can be heard on WMCO 90.7 every Sunday and Wednesday at noon.
