Community engagement meeting to discuss new aquatic facility

The Village of New Concord is embarking on a process to identify what a new community aquatic facility could look like, thanks to a grant from the Straker Foundation.

The village has engaged MSA Design, a leading design/architecture firm with long aquatics experience, to facilitate. The existing New Concord Area Pool is 65 years old and is becoming expensive to maintain. This has led to the question of how should the village move forward as a community.

The community engagement process will consist of three meetings. Each session will be focused on gathering community input for moving forward.

New Concord Mayor Jennifer Lyle said, “they [the architectural firm] will help us start thinking and dreaming about what we would like for our pool for the future.”

The first meeting is Thursday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

The first Community Engagement Meeting will focus on listening and gathering information and initial input. MSA will start with a short presentation focusing on the condition of the existing pool, benchmarking of aquatics facilities and possible pool amenities to consider.

After the presentation, the session will open up to simply hear from the community and gather your thoughts as related to potentially building a new aquatic facility.

The meeting is open the public.
