Muskingum University announced an exciting event that will take place in the beginning of the new year. The Original Harlem Globetrotters will bring entertainment and basketball skills to Muskingum’s Anne C. Steele Center Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.

The Harlem Globetrotters were founded in 1926 by Abe Saperstein. The Globetrotters have entertained the world with their ball-handling skills, comedy, and fan interaction.

The Globetrotters have more than 148 million fans worldwide in over 120 countries, entertaining crowds with over 400 events every year. Nearly 750 men and women have played for the world-famous team.

The organization is also involved in charitable giving, totaling close to $11 million in donations to charity.

Steve Brockelbank, Muskingum University Vice President and Director of Athletics, is excited for the opportunity Muskingum has been given to host the Harlem Globetrotters.

“They reached out to us and I am pleased we could make this happen. It will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase Muskingum University and provide a unique entertainment opportunity for the local community,” said Brockelbank.
