Local firefighters respond to tractor-trailer fire

Local area firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 70 Sunday, Feb. 28.

The New Concord Fire Department was dispatched at 1:50 a.m. to mile marker 171.

New Concord firefighter Chris Cocca said the semi-truck had disconnected from the trailer on Interstate 70. The brakes were the cause of the fire.

When arrived at the scene N.C.F.D. was assisted by Cassell Station Fire Department in putting 700 to 800 gallons of water on the semi’s breaks.

Firefighters were on the scene for 45 minutes. No injuries were reported and the items the driver were hauling were not damaged.
