Muskingum Captains Named Players of the Week

Muskingum Volleyball junior captains Brooke Fatheree and Jessica Cottle were nominated by the Ohio Athletic Conference as the OAC Volleyball Players of the Week last week. Fatheree, an outside hitter, and Cottle, the libero, led the Lady Muskies to a 3-0 record last week.

Muskingum defeated both Kenyon and John Carroll in straight sets and beat #22 Wittenberg in four sets. To this point, Muskingum is 18-2 overall, 2-1 in the OAC, and is #19 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll.

For the second time this season, Fatheree is the OAC Volleyball Player of the Week. Last week, she recorded 40 kills on 105 total attempts, putting up a 29 percent hitting percentage. She also had 29 digs and 47 points on the week. Currently, Fatheree ranks third in the OAC with 235 kills and is third in the conference in kills per set with 3.36.

Cottle had a team-high 58 digs, averaging 5.8 digs per set. At the moment, Cottle sits at fourth in the OAC with 339 digs and is fifth in digs per set with 4.91.

The Muskingum volleyball team travels Hiram for a battle with the Terriers on Friday at 7 p.m.
