Muskingum University football Head Coach Erik Ieuter is looking for his team to bounce back this Saturday, Nov. 13 against the Capital Comets after coming off a tough loss to #4 Mount Union.

Despite the loss to the Purple Raiders, Ieuter still had some positive takeaways from the game.

“I thought our guys competed and they stayed together. They gave it all they had for four quarters,” said Ieuter.

Looking forward to this weekend, the Muskies are looking for a win to end the season 5-5. This would be the first time the Muskies have recorded a five-win season since 2003. The Muskies also have a chance to finish in the top half of the OAC which would be the first time since 2009.

“It’s exciting. There are a lot of people who have put a lot of work into this program. We really want to make sure we stay focused on finishing the job, getting this win, and then we can look back and see how this year went. But it is really exciting to see the direction that this program is going,” said Ieuter.

The Comets are 2-7 on the season and are looking to end their season with a win as well.

“We know this is a really big game for us. It’s going to come down to us executing offensively and defensively and special teams having a big day,” said Ieuter.

For a few players, this will be the last time they get to step on the field and compete as Muskies. Muskingum has been led by seniors including quarterback Jordan Garrett, defensive back Brian Brown, defensive back Cortez McGinnis, and offensive lineman Iggy Horvath all season.

“It’s a great group and it’s certainly a group we are going to miss a lot. I know they want to get this win and finish 5-5. I know they’re going to continue to bring the great leadership that they have all year. I’m excited to see them perform one last time,” said Ieuter.

The Muskies travel to Bexley Saturday, Nov. 13 as they play the Capital Comets.
