Muskingum graduates named to regional leadership positions

As area schools start the academic year, many of them are starting with recent graduates of Muskingum University’s Education Leadership programs. Ten of the University’s graduates have been named to leadership positions throughout the region.

“Muskingum University prepares educators for licensure as administrative specialists, principals and superintendents,” said Barb Hansen, Dave Longaberger Professor of Teaching & Learning. “Muskingum graduates are doing great things and making all of us proud.”

Graduates with leadership appointments include:

  • Lindsay Rayner, New Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center
  • Clint Rhodes, New Director of Instruction at Northern Local School District
  • Annette Calendine, New Principal at Perry Elementary, East Muskingum Local Schools
  • Trista Claxon, New Principal at New Philadelphia High School, New Philadelphia City Schools
  • Amy VanBalen, New Principal at Somerset Elementary, Northern Local School District
  • Adrian Williams, New Principal at Zanesville Middle School, Zanesville City Schools
  • Seth Corder, New Assistant Superintendent at Dover City Schools
  • Charles Rinkes, New Superintendent at River View Local Schools
  • Greg Gifford, New Superintendent at Caldwell School District
  • Chase Rosser, New Superintendent at East Guernsey Local Schools

National storytellers to perform at StoryFest

Three featured storytellers from the National Storytelling Festival present their stories, comedy, and music Sunday, Sept. 5 in New Concord.

Bil Lepp, Andy Offut Irwin, and Kim Weitkamp join this year’s event in front of a live audience at the StoryFest Live Radio Show in New Concord.

Andy IrwinFollowing an hour of music by folk Americana singer and songwriter Barefoot McCoy, the national storytellers lineup will also be aired live 2-6 p.m. on WMCO 90.7 and the free WMCO app.

Programming for the festival takes place at Stormont Park, next to New Concord Elementary School.

StoryFest activities include an art and farmers market, morning yoga, worship service, performance by rock band Sacred Turtle, Ohio tellers Teri Lott and Rick Hastings, and the winners of the BigFish Salty Stories contest.

Listen to the radio worship service at 10:30 a.m., local storytellers and storytelling contest at 1 p.m., followed by national storytellers live from Stormont Park from 2-6 p.m. on WMCO.

In its fourth year, StoryFest is hosted by local religious non-profit organization Bigfishfolklife, a folklife community sharing God’s love through stories of salt and light.
