Muskingum University celebrates Homecoming Friday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 21, welcoming alumni and friends to campus.

This year’s Reunion Weekend event marks the pairing of the traditional Alumni Weekend summer celebration with Homecoming.

Current Muskies received a head start to the weekend Thursday, Oct. 18. Students attended a bonfire, listened to sports captains talk about the weekend’s upcoming games, and heard the announcement of the 2018 Homecoming Court. The Muskingum Homecoming King and Queen will be crowed Saturday during halftime of the football game.

Muskingum University’s top three king and queen candidates:  Erin King, Mac Burton, Dymin Hagwood, Bryan Connor, Hope Babbitt, and Gary Kinney. The King and Queen will be announced during Saturday’s football game.

Muskingum University President Susan S. Hasseler said the bonfire event is a great way to kick off the weekend.

Muskingum students showed up Thursday night to cheer for their fellow Muskies. They were loud as they listened to the court be announced and as sports captains spoke to the crowd.

Director of Alumni Relations Jennifer Bronner said Homecoming is great for Muskies to reconnect to the campus. She shared one of her favorite homecoming memories.

Homecoming is also a time for current Muskies to showcase their skills to alumni. With athletic events, a Collage Concert, and Varsity Revue, there’s entertainment for everyone.

Director of Activities and Student Involvement Stacey Allan has celebrated over a decade of Muskingum Homecoming activities. Although she said it is hard to single out a favorite memory, it is worthwhile to catch up with former Muskies every year.

Alumni visiting campus can pick up their registration packets and name tags on the Quad. Allan said alumni should ask questions if they are wondering where to go Saturday.

Homecoming festivities will wrap up on Sunday with a farewell church service and brunch, however alumni are welcome to come back to campus to support current Muskies in all of their endeavors.
