The Spirit of College Radio Awards are presented annually to college radio stations for outstanding participation in World College Radio Day.

For the second year in a row, Orbit Media’s WMCO 90.7 FM has been awarded this distinction by the College Radio Foundation. WMCO is one of 10 stations selected from hundreds of event participants for the award.

“We congratulate all these stations for their brilliant efforts. This year our theme for the day was ‘Where All Voices Are Welcome’ and many stations did 24 hours of extraordinary events and programming. Well done to all the stations who have won this award,” Dr. Rob Quicke, Founder of College Radio Day, said in the online announcement.

Muskingum University’s radio station was live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2023 for the 13th annual celebration. The event was also led up to with content posted on our Tik-Tok, Instagram, and on OrbitMediaOnline.com honoring this year’s theme, “Where All Voices Are Welcome.”

WMCO Program Director Senior Kailyn Shalosky said, “thanks to college radio, I feel like my voice is not only welcome but heard. It allows me to give back to a community that has shaped me over the last three years. It has allowed me to bring awareness through airwaves to other things I am passionate about such as Women’s History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month. There is always something new to learn, and that’s why I love it.”
