The Village of New Concord has teamed with Kimble Recycling & Disposal for a cheaper and better alternative for trash pickup in the village.

Ordinance D-2-19-1 would allow Kimble to provide exclusive refuse and recycling collection service for village residents.

The village hosted an informational session with Kimble representatives Julie Monroy and Andrew Kimble before the Jan. 14 New Concord Village Council meeting.

The new plan, which includes unlimited trash disposal and recycling, would be $17.07 a month.

Several companies currently collect trash in the village, including Kimble. The average cost for disposal in the village is $19 to $22 a month.

Some other benefits to the new disposal service are a curbside recycling program for residents. Kimble is hoping for a hassle-free recycling service so residents do not have to separate recyclables.

“”Our wish is that you would just take all your recyclables, co-mingle them and put them right in,”  said Monroy.

The change in disposal will not be official until Feb. 11 when Village Council has a third and final reading and voting of the ordinance.

The new disposal service would begin March 1. Village residents can expect a “welcome” letter addressing the change, including cost information.
