Muskingum Volleyball Continues to Climb in AVCA Poll

The Muskingum volleyball team rose to 15th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, marking Muskingum’s highest national ranking since 2000.

Muskingum is 22-2 overall and has a 4-1 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) after sweeping Capital on Tuesday. This season, the Muskies have surrendered just 15 sets, claimed 16 straight-set victories, and are currently on a nine-game winning streak.

As a team, Muskingum has logged 1,175 kills, 1,060 assists, 1,588 digs, 130 service aces, and 140 total blocks. The Muskies are ranked fourth in NCAA Division lll in kills per set with 13.99. Muskingum also stands at 15th in assists per set with 12.60 and 13th in hitting percentage at 0.241.

Junior captain Brooke Fatheree leads the Lady Muskies with a team-high 264 kills and ranks third in the OAC with 3.14 kills per set. Fatheree has been nominated as the OAC Volleyball Player of the Week twice this year. She also reached her 1,000th career kill and 1,000th career dig this season.

Junior captain Erin Dickson has a team-best 703 assists. She sits at fourth in the OAC with 9.01 assists per set. Dickson recorded in her 2,650th career assist versus Baldwin Wallace, placing her fourth all-time at Muskingum in career assists.

Junior captain Jessica Cottle holds down the Muskie backline with a team-best 418 digs. She is fourth in the OAC with 5.04 digs per set. Cottle was selected as the OAC Volleyball Player of the Week earlier this year for her performances against Kenyon, John Carroll, and Wittenberg. This season Cottle tallied her 1,000th career dig against Hiram.

Junior captain Brynn Guist leads the team with 65 blocks in 80 sets played and places tied for fourth in the conference at 0.81 blocks per set.
