Muskingum Volleyball Recognized for Dominance

The Muskingum University volleyball team received votes in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll for the third consecutive week. The Lady Muskies appeared on two or more ballots and received a total of 129 points in the poll.

Muskingum is 11-1 overall on the season, which is their best start since 2008. Last weekend, the Lady Muskies went 3-1 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. They defeated #13 Hope and Scranton in three straight sets and took down Susquehanna in four.

The Lady Muskies defeated the Bethany Bison in their 2019 home opener on Wednesday night in straight sets, winning 3-0. Junior Brooke Fatheree led the Lady Muskies with 12 kills and 13 digs. Juniors Maddie McGee, Brynn Guist, and Jada Briggs had five kills each, and first-year Emma Conrad recorded a team-high 13 assists.

This season the Lady Muskies have surrendered just eight total sets, claimed eight straight-set victories, and recorded ten consecutive wins to open the year. The team has tallied 576 kills, 508 assists, 774 digs, and 59 total blocks.

Muskingum travels to Greencastle Indiana to compete in the DePauw University Invitational on Saturday, September 21. The Lady Muskies will take on St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. and DePauw at 3 p.m.
