Sheetz, a convenience store and gas station, has officially broken ground northwest of the New Concord Interstate 70 and State Route 83 intersection.

“We are looking forward to an exciting grand breaking ceremony when they open which we hope will be next year,” said Mayor Jennifer Lyle.

The New Concord Planning Commission granted Sheetz final clearance on March 17 to move forward with the project.

“We are very proud that Sheetz has chosen to locate here,” said Lyle.

Since then Lyle said Sheetz had to obtain various approvals from the county and the State of Ohio to be able to officially begin digging.

The project is private which means the village is not required to give funding for landscaping or building that will occur at the location.

The New Concord Sheetz location breaks ground on Nov. 21. A Sheetz spokesperson told Village officials that construction will continue into next year with an anticipated opening of Fall 2023.

The construction is located on the north side of Interstate 70 and the west side of State Route 83.

It will not require any buildings to be torn down or redone.

Construction will continue into next year with an anticipated opening in Fall 2023.
