New Concord Village Council held their monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 14.  Robert Dickson, New Concord Village Council President, along with Charlotte Colley, Village Administrator, shared an infrastructure plan to improve village sidewalks.

The plan, called the 2020 Sidewalk Project, has been created to repair sidewalks that are damaged on multiple homeowners properties in the community. “We have several people interested in getting their sidewalks repair this year,” said Dickson.

Homeowners who receive the sidewalk repairs will reimburse the village for 50% of the repairs.

“As soon as I get in touch with everyone and make sure they’re all comfortable with the 50/50 split…as soon as I have that information, I’ll update council on where we are,” said Colley.

Colley is contacting homeowners and they have the option to opt out if they wish. The village estimated the total cost to be between $12,700-$13,000 if all homeowners agree to the project.

Council and finance committee member Steve Wootton said the village will pay the upfront price of the project. Council unanimously voted to create the budget by borrowing money from a general fund they already have established.

The next council meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Listen and watch on WMCO and Orbit TV.
