The Village of New Concord has received a $621,790 grant for their Wastewater Department from the State of Ohio.

The state took a portion of their federal money from the America Recovery Program and created a grant program dedicated to water infrastructure called Ohio BUILDS.

The Ohio BUILDS Program received over 1,200 applications, and New Concord was one of two communities in Muskingum County to receive the grant.

“We are very honored to receive this recognition and the information will be coming through as we embark on this entire project,” said New Concord Mayor Jennifer Lyle.

This grant will fully cover the cost of a replacement water tertiary filtration system.

The project will benefit 2,676 people in New Concord, and two areas of Guernsey County.

New Concord Village Council meetings reair Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon and 10 p.m. on WMCO 90.7.
