Captains Chosen for Lady Muskies Volleyball

Muskingum University head volleyball coach Hallie Cruzen has announced team captains for the 2019 season. Junior libero Jessica Cottle, junior setter Erin Dickson, junior outside hitter Brooke Fatheree, junior outside hitter Brynn Guist, and senior defensive specialist Kamryn Smith will lead the Lady Muskies as they look to have another successful season.

Dickson, a returning captain, has played in 58 matches and 203 sets. She has notched 183 kills, 41 service aces, 376 digs, and 83 blocks through her first two seasons for the Lady Muskies.

Dickson has 1,969 assists, placing her sixth overall on the Muskingum leader board for career assists. Dickson received Second Team All-OAC honors and ended last season with a team-high 1,210 assists. Additionally, she tallied 120 kills, 198 digs, and 52 blocks. Last season, Dickson was named OAC Player of the Week for her outstanding performances against Mount Union and Baldwin Wallace.

Fatheree, another returning captain and First Team All-OAC recipient, finished her sophomore season with a team-best 452 kills and ranked second with 446 digs. Also, she contributed 48 blocks, 43 assists, and 19 service aces. Fatheree ended the regular season ranked first in kills and second in kills-per-set in the OAC with 3.86.

Guist, who is also returning captain, was named Honorable Mention All-OAC last season. She totaled 326 kills last season, ranking second on the team in kills and kills per set. Furthermore, she recorded a team-high 100 blocks, 103 digs, and 24 service aces.

Cottle was nominated as an Honorable Mention All-OAC award winner last year. She finished the season with 622 digs, which led the team. In the 32 matches that she played, she blasted 31 service aces. Cottle ranked first in the OAC in digs and third in the OAC in digs per set with 5.46 to wrap up her sophomore season.

Smith played 11 matches and 16 sets for the Lady Muskies last season. She received Academic All-OAC Honor Roll recognition along with five other athletes on the Muskingum volleyball team.

The Lady Muskies host Bethany in their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Listen and watch the game on WMCO and Orbit TV starting at 6:45 p.m. Muskingum begins OAC play on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Ohio Northern.
